Mohamed Abdel Latif, Minister of Education and Technical Education, confirmed that the file on protecting children on digital platforms focuses primarily on the age groups present in the Ministry of Education’s schools, which extend from the age of 4 to 15 years, as it is a very important stage in building the student’s personality.

This came during the Minister of Education’s participation in a hearing in the Communications and Information Technology Committee of the House of Representatives, to discuss developing legislation that contributes to protecting children and young people and reducing harmful content on social media platforms, in implementation of presidential directives.

The Minister explained that there is a real crisis resulting from the presence of open and available digital platforms without adequate controls, which requires intensifying efforts and taking effective measures to protect students from the risks associated with unsafe digital content.

He pointed out that the Ministry is working in coordination with the concerned authorities in order to provide a safe digital environment that supports the educational process and preserves educational values, ensuring the protection of our students during the various stages of education.

Mohamed Abdel Latif, Minister of Education and Technical Education, said that the Ministry is considering providing an educational Internet package specifically for students in the education years, which includes blocking websites and platforms that may harm children, in order to ensure the safe and beneficial use of technology.

The Minister stressed that there is a real crisis in light of the availability of open digital platforms without adequate controls, which requires intensifying efforts to protect students, especially in the age groups from 4 to 15 years, as it is a pivotal stage in building personality.

He pointed out that the Ministry is working in parallel to include the concepts of awareness of Internet risks and the safe use of digital platforms within school curricula, in addition to implementing awareness programs for students, as well as cooperating with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology to create a safe educational platform aimed at enhancing student interaction and investing their time positively.
