The security services at the Ministry of Interior were able to uncover the circumstances of a video clip that was circulated on social media sites, which included the driver of a “four-wheeler” vehicle colliding with a person while he was walking on a road, which led to his death in Menoufia.

The arrest of a car driver who ran over a pension employee while he was walking in Menoufia

Upon examination, it was revealed that on February 27 of last year, the Tala Police Station was informed from one of the hospitals that it had received (a retired employee who suffered fractures and bruises and died upon his arrival – a resident of the center’s district). Upon questioning, the two witnesses to the incident (a student and the son of the deceased) confirmed that while a “quarter transport” car was driving on one of the roads in the center’s district, the steering wheel became loose in its driver’s hand and it collided with the deceased as he crossed the road, and its driver fled on foot, abandoning his car.

It was possible to identify and arrest the perpetrator of the incident at the time (the driver of the car “does not have a driver’s license”), and when he was confronted, he admitted to committing the incident as referred to without intending it. He explained his escape for fear of being held legally accountable.

The car was seized and legal measures were taken against its driver. The Public Prosecution took over the investigation.
