The Qena Criminal Court, headed by Counselor Islam Mohamed Hamza, and with the membership of Counselors Ahmed Mahfouz Abdel Latif, Yasser Arafa Arif, and Abdel Basset Qamar Al-Zaman Ibrahim, and in the presence of Sharif Mohamed Mahjoub, Deputy Public Prosecutor, sentenced an accused to aggravated imprisonment for 10 years and fined him 100,000 pounds, for accusing him of trafficking in narcotic substances, while it punished another accused with imprisonment with labor for two years and fined him 10,000 pounds. The events of the case go back to the year 2025, when the security services were able to arrest the first defendant, “Ahmed M. Mal”, a worker and resident of the Katameya area, in possession of a quantity of methamphetamine (shabu) for the purpose of trafficking, along with the essence of narcotic hashish.
The second accused, “Muhammad A.S.”, who is unemployed, was also arrested in possession of narcotic substances, including hashish and methamphetamine, with the intention of using them.
After codifying the procedures, the accused and the seized items were seized, the necessary report was drawn up, and they were referred to the Public Prosecution, which initiated investigations, before referring them to the Qena Criminal Court in Case No. 5309 of 2025 in Qena.
After examining the case, the court issued its advanced ruling, punishing the first defendant with 10 years of aggravated imprisonment and a large fine, while it ruled that the second defendant be imprisoned for two years with work, fined him 10,000 pounds, and obligated the first to pay criminal expenses.
