Cairo 24 learned that there is a study to create an integrated national platform to controlRoad vehiclesThis is within the framework of a trend aimed at developing mechanisms for monitoring vehicle movement and enhancing traffic discipline using modern technology.
According to a source, the proposal includes creating a smart platform that relies on information communications technology to monitor car movement, by exploiting mobile phones as data sensors, allowing the movement and behavior of drivers and vehicles to be deduced in real time.

The source indicated that the platform’s outputs, after analyzing them, will be linked to the fees for renewing the annual license for private vehicles, so that the fees are calculated based on several criteria, the most important of which is the actual behavior of the driver while driving. The proposal also includes evaluating the behavior of van, taxi, and bus drivers, and linking driving behavior to the license fees.
The proposal was based on Canada’s international experience in this context, pointing out that implementing the system may contribute to achieving an expected increase in revenues exceeding 100 billion pounds within 5 years.
