The Daily Mail revealed that it is not yet clear whether the explosion is related to the current developments in Iran, and details about the occurrence of injuries or the extent of damage are not yet known.

According to the report, workers at the base were informed of the need to return to their homes and remain in their places until further notice, with instructions to stay away from windows and take shelter behind or under sturdy furniture, awaiting additional instructions.

This comes at a time when British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced allowing the United States to use British bases to carry out strikes described as defensive against missile sites in Iran, stressing that the decision falls within the collective defense of allies and in accordance with international law, while publishing a summary of the legal advice related to the decision.

Starmer explained that Britain did not participate in the attacks on Iran, and would not join any offensive action, noting that the aim of the step was to protect British interests and its allies in the region, and prevent further escalation.

In a related context, the British Ministry of Defense said that Royal Air Force aircraft participated in defensive operations in the region, including shooting down an Iranian drone that was heading towards Qatar, as part of the tasks of protecting the airspace and interests of Britain and its allies.
