The semi-final match of the African Under-15 Schools Championship sparked widespread controversy in the African and Moroccan football streets, after the national team won. The match, which was expected to be equal between two teams from the most prominent football schools on the continent, turned into a strong display from the Senegalese side, which clearly imposed its control and succeeded in scoring four unanswered goals, securing the ticket to qualify for the final with a remarkable performance.
But apart from the result, football was not the only thing the fans were talking about, as controversy topped the scene on social media, where a large number of followers questioned the ages of the Senegalese national team players, considering that the physical differences were “unnatural” compared to the under-15 stage.
Fans circulated pictures and clips from the match showing a clear superiority in the physical structure and physical strength of the Senegalese players, which prompted some to question the accuracy of applying age standards in the tournament, even though it is organized under the supervision of the Confederation of African Football.
