The Directorate of Health Affairs in Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate announced the success of a medical team at Desouk General Hospital in saving a patient’s hand from amputation, after he was severely injured as a result of an assault with a sharp object. The directorate revealed that the patient arrived at the emergency department in critical condition, after the assault caused a complete severing of the tendons, nerves, and arteries feeding the hand, which threatened to lose it permanently, noting that the case was dealt with immediately without hesitation.
Desouk General Hospital added, in a statement issued by it, that the medical team performed a delicate surgical intervention that lasted about 5 continuous hours, inside the operating room, where the arteries were reconnected to restore blood flow, the nerves were restored to restore sensation, in addition to repairing the tendons with the aim of restoring the natural movement of the hand.
She pointed out that the operation was carried out in full coordination between the microsurgery and plastic surgery teams and the anesthesiologists, stressing that the surgery was a success and the blood supply to the hand returned to normal, as the patient was detained under close medical observation, with a specialized rehabilitation program being developed to help him gradually restore the efficiency and function of the hand during the coming period.
The Directorate of Health Affairs in Kafr El-Sheikh confirmed its continued efforts to support the health system and raise the efficiency of medical services provided to citizens, especially in critical cases that require quick and accurate intervention.
