Troy Deeney, the former English Premier League and Watford club star, launched a violent attack on the Egyptian star Mohamed Salahdescribing him as one of the most problematic players he has ever seen in his life, stressing that the Pharaoh lacks the qualities of greatness that make him a historical symbol of Liverpool FC, despite his great talent.

Troy Denny: Salah is a selfish player and a troublemaker

The Sun newspaper reported Denny’s statements in which he considered that Salah’s behavior during the current season is not commensurate with the amount of praise he is receiving, indicating that the player puts his personal interests above the interests of the entity, which is clearly evident in the crises that are currently haunting the club under the leadership of coach Arne Sloat.

Troy Deeney said: Is Salah one of Liverpool’s all-time greats? Perhaps in terms of talent only, but greatness lies in possessing all the leadership and symbolic qualities of the club, and the truth is that Salah only thinks about himself, and as soon as things start to deteriorate, he begins to hide and exacerbate the problems at Anfield instead of helping his team.

He added: Compare him with Virgil van Dijk, as he is the only player who bears responsibility whether the team wins or loses, while Salah only makes sure to get a moment in front of the cameras, and he does not hesitate to create drama whenever he does not get what he wants, as he did previously in his argument with Jurgen Klopp, or when he deleted the club’s references from his accounts, leading up to his frank criticism of coach Arne Sloat recently.

The former Watford star continued: When things go well, Salah gets all the credit. Some even said that he is a better player than Thierry Henry, and this is nonsense. Salah is the highest-paid player in Liverpool, and instead of helping Slot put out the fires since his first day, Salah has always sought to add fuel to the fire with his actions that may lead to the disintegration of the team.

Troy Deeney concluded his statements, claiming that Salah turns things upside down as soon as the results begin to decline, stressing that his – selfish – behavior prevents him from being a true symbol of the club, and calling on him to remember those who supported him when he was at the peak of his brilliance last year instead of letting the system down at the present time.
