Saad Lamjarred case

On the other hand, the case of the Moroccan artist Saad Lamjarred witnessed new developments on the judicial scene in Paris during the past hours, after the recent sessions shed light on one of the most controversial cases in the recent period, as the attention of observers turns to the misdemeanor court in the French capital, which continues to consider charges related to a financial blackmail attempt that had been opened against him years ago, according to the Moroccan, Arab and European media.

In this context, according to Moroccan newspapers, the French Public Prosecution demanded the imposition of a one-year suspended prison sentence and the imposition of a fine on the main accused, in a step that judicial sources described as a new turning point in the course of the case after new data and documents appeared before the court.

The Public Prosecution’s request for a year of suspended imprisonment and a fine against the main accused, Laura Priol, came in the wake of the review of new evidence before the court, while the proposed penalties for the remaining defendants who are being pursued in the same case have not yet been determined.

Saad Lamjarred case

In December 2025, the artist Saad Lamjarred’s lawyers announced the latest details of his trial, in the case of his accusation of assaulting the French girl, Laura Prioul.

The official page of Saad Lamjarred published, via Instagram, a statement saying: “The defense team of the artist Saad Lamjarred announces that it has been informed of the decision to postpone the hearing, due to the health condition of the president of the court. While the Commission understands the justifications for this decision, in return it expresses its regret that the final decision on this case continues to be postponed for several additional months, even though the Public Prosecution had requested a decision not to prosecute four and a half years ago.

The statement continued: “As for the second file (the file) in Paris, which is expected to be considered before the Court of Crete during the year 2026, it was also decided to postpone the session, in light of what was revealed about the behavior of the plaintiff. She was summoned to appear before the court on charges of attempting to blackmail our client, Saad Lamjarred, and of participating in forming a gang with the aim of preparing a fraud related to the administration of justice.

The statement added: “Saad Lamjarred, whose only concern is these two cases, affirms his adherence to his innocence for nine years, and expresses his aspiration that full justice will be achieved as soon as possible.”
