The Holding Company for Food Industries announced an increase in the quantities of sugarcane supplied from farmers in various governorates of Upper Egypt, for the benefit of the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade, which are supplied to the factories of the Sugar and Integrated Industries Company, in the factories of Abu Qurqas, Kom Ombo, Edfu, Arment, Dashna, Qus, Gerga, and Nag Hammadi.
Dr. Alaa Naji, CEO of the Holding Company for Food Industries, said in press statements today that approximately 1,100,000 tons of cane have been received from farmers in various regions of Upper Egypt since the start of the 2025/2026 harvest season in December of last year until now.
The CEO of the Holding Company for Food Industries added that approximately 95,000 tons of packaged white sugar were produced from the quantities received in the company’s integrated industries factories.
Naji stressed that the company is committed to paying the full value of the quantities supplied to the farmers immediately upon supply to the factories affiliated with the Sugar and Integrated Industries Company, in accordance with the directives of Dr. Sherif Farouk, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, which aims to ensure the acceleration of payment processes and the fulfillment of farmers’ rights, which represents a strong incentive for regular supply and increasing the quantities supplied during the current season.
Cane and sugar industry
Dr. Engineer Alaa Naji, CEO of the Holding Company for Food Industries, explained that these measures also contribute to supporting farmers and encouraging them to increase production in the coming seasons.
For his part, chemist Salah Fathi, Managing Director and CEO of the Sugar and Integrated Industries Company, confirmed that the current season for harvesting and supplying cane is going well, and that there are no problems or obstacles facing farmers and suppliers in delivering the crop to the company’s factories, which operate 24 hours a day with a three-shift system.
The Managing Director and CEO of the Sugar and Integrated Industries Company said that, other than the production of packaged sugar from the cane crop supplied by farmers, other products are produced by integrated industries, including alcohol, vinegar, fodder, and so on.
It is noteworthy that the 2025/2026 sugarcane harvest and supply season aims to receive about 6 million tons from farmers, with the aim of producing between 650 and 675 thousand tons of packaged white sugar, which is directed to support the food supply system and ensure the availability of sugar to citizens at reasonable prices, in addition to distributing quantities of it to free goods in consumer complexes and government initiatives managed by the Ministry of Supply.
