A team of Italian researchers has reignited the controversy over what they describe as “huge structures extending more than 1,000 meters below… Pyramids Giza, after they announced that the data of four satellites agreed, confirming, according to them, the existence of an underground complex of an unprecedented size.
Claims of the discovery of a massive complex under Khafre’s pyramid
According to what was published by the British newspaper Daily Mail, Filippo Biondi, the radar engineer responsible for the project, said that the radar tomography data collected by satellites from the companies Umbra, Capella, ICEYE, and Cosmo-SkyMed were identical, showing what he described as giant cylinders descending directly below Khafre’s pyramid and ending in cubic rooms with an area exceeding 260 square feet.
In its analysis, the team relies on synthetic aperture radar Doppler tomography technology, which measures minute vibrations in the Earth’s surface, through which three-dimensional images of objects buried at great depths are reconstructed.
According to the team’s claims, spiral structures appeared wrapping around each column. They also observed similar signatures under the Pyramid of Menkaure and the Sphinx, in addition to the site of Hawara, which the ancients described as a maze.

Zahi Hawass: Allegations that have no scientific basis
Dr. Zahi Hawass, Egyptologist and former Minister of Antiquities, renewed his complete rejection of these results, describing them as fake news, stressing that radar technology cannot penetrate depths under the pyramids in this way, and that what is being circulated falls within the framework of ill-considered exaggerations.
According to what the British newspaper reported, Egyptian and international archaeological experts confirmed that previous scientific surveys, in which international teams from France, Japan and Canada participated, did not reveal any evidence of structures of this size or nature under the pyramids.
Despite the controversy, Biondi revealed that his team submitted an official proposal as part of a research project related to the Pyramid of Khafre, which does not include any excavation work, but rather relies on cleaning ancient passages between the Sphinx and the Pyramid of Khafre, which is believed, according to their analysis, to may lead to the aforementioned deep complex.
He explained that the team hopes to obtain approval before the end of the year, with potential exploration work to begin in 2026.
