Major General Muhammad Alwan was declared governor AssiutCompleting the preparations of the Assiut Endowments Directorate to receive the blessed Eid al-Fitr for the year 1447 AH / 2026 AD, stressing full coordination between the governorate’s agencies and the Endowments Directorate to provide the appropriate atmosphere for citizens to perform Eid prayers in an organized and safe atmosphere that reflects the spirit of the occasion.
Eid al-Fitr preparations
The Governor of Assiut explained that the Endowments Directorate, led by Dr. Eid Ali Khalifa, Undersecretary of the Ministry, allocated 169 squares for performing Eid al-Fitr prayers distributed among the various centers, cities, and villages of the governorate, in addition to 2,677 mosques in which Eid prayer rituals were held, in order to accommodate the largest number of worshipers and facilitate the performance of prayer near their places of residence, while providing a primary preacher and a backup preacher in each of the prayer squares, ensuring regular performance of the rituals without any obstacles. The governor added that a major cleaning campaign had been launched in all mosques at the governorate level, in coordination between the Endowments Directorate and local units, as part of preparations to receive worshipers during the days of Eid and to prepare mosques and squares to receive citizens in the best way.
Major General Muhammad Alwan also confirmed that a central operations room has been formed in the General Office of the Endowments Directorate, headed by the Director of Da’wah and the leadership of the Directorate, and that its work will begin as of Wednesday, March 18, 2026, in addition to the formation of sub-operations rooms in each Endowment Department at the center level, to follow up on the preparations in Eid squares and mosques, and to monitor any observations or violations and deal with them immediately.
The Governor of Assiut stressed the need for imams and preachers to adhere to the topic and time of the Eid sermon in accordance with the controls set by the Ministry of Endowments, with a focus on spreading the spirit of joy and pleasure among citizens, and congratulating them on this blessed occasion that reflects the values of love, compassion and solidarity among the members of society.
He explained that the governorate is keen to provide the appropriate atmosphere for performing religious rituals with ease, congratulating the people of Assiut on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, wishing that God will bring it back to our dear Egypt with security, stability, goodness and blessings.
