Today, Wednesday, the Directorate of Supply, Veterinary Medicine and Food Safety in the New Valley Governorate launched a massive campaign against a number of restaurants in the city of Mot, affiliated with the Dakhla Center, following the poisoning incident that the city witnessed, which resulted in 23 people being injured after eating chicken shawarma meals.
Seizing meat and poultry of unknown origin
Dr. Essam Al-Koumi, Director of the Directorate of Veterinary Medicine in New Valley, said that the campaign was implemented immediately on restaurants in the city of Mut after the escalation of the repercussions of the poisoning incident, noting that the traffic resulted in the arrest of violations inside a famous restaurant in the city, within the framework of tightening control over the food in circulation and protecting public health.
The campaign resulted in the seizure of 24.8 kg of minced meat with no data recorded and of unknown origin, in addition to 14.5 kg of chopped poultry, also with no data recorded and of unknown source, while all seized items were seized and the necessary legal measures were taken regarding the incident.
Al-Koumi added that a report was drawn up on the incident, with the Public Prosecution notified to initiate investigations, in parallel with the ongoing examination of the repercussions of the poisoning incident that took place in the city of Mut in the center of Dakhla, after the number of injured people rose to 23 cases.
