I succeeded Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources In adding 4 new wells to the gas production map, in both the West Burullus field in the Mediterranean Sea in partnership with Kairon Company, and the Khalda Company fields in the Western Desert in partnership with Apache International Company, with a total production estimated at about 120 million cubic feet of gas per day, as part of efforts to confront the challenges of the high gas import bill, and to support a gradual increase in local production.
Adding 4 new gas wells with a total of 120 million cubic feet per day
In this context, the new well in the West Burullus offshore field, affiliated with Petroweb Company, one of the EGAS Natural Gas Holding companies, comes a few days after the third well in the field was put on production. The test results of the fourth well showed a production rate estimated at about 50 million cubic feet of gas per day, and it is being finalized to connect it to production through the facilities of the Burullus Gas Company, which will contribute to raising the field’s total production to more than 100 million cubic feet of gas per day.
In light of these positive results, work is underway to update the drilling plan to include drilling the fifth well on the Web platform. In the Western Desert, Khaleda Petroleum Company achieved positive results by drilling three new wells within Apache’s investment plan, with a total production estimated at about 70 million cubic feet of gas per day and 700 barrels of condensate.
These results are one of the fruits of the investment incentives approved by the Ministry, which contributed to encouraging Apache to expand its research, exploration and natural gas production activities.
The drilling work included a successful exploratory well, SHAI-2X, in the Western Region, where preliminary test results showed a production rate of 30 million cubic feet of gas per day.
Another exploratory well, Mahroussa-N01X, was drilled in the East Abu Al-Gharadiq area, and its initial test results showed an estimated production of about 25 million cubic feet of gas per day, and 700 barrels of condensate. Work is underway to connect the two wells to production successively during the month of April, taking advantage of the available infrastructure.
The third well, Salam-88ST, has already been put on production, at an estimated rate of 15 million cubic feet of gas per day.
