Pope Tawadros congratulates Egyptians on the beginning of Lent and the month of Ramadan

This came in his sermon at the Wednesday meeting this evening, which he delivered from the papal headquarters in Cairo.

Pope Tawadros said: I take this opportunity to congratulate our Muslim brothers on the beginning of the month of fasting, the month of Ramadan. One of the virtues of coincidences and divine blessings is that all Egyptians are fasting together as we began fasting in the same week. Fasting is a period of worship, prayer, getting closer to God, feeling the other, and improving oneself.

He added: We congratulate all our Muslim brothers in Egypt, the Arab and Islamic countries, and the whole world. We also congratulate all the officials in Egypt, especially President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, and all the officials at all levels of work. May God make them days of blessing with many blessings for our country and for the life of every family in Egypt.
