to attest Al-Azhar MosqueOn the twenty-first night of the blessed month of Ramadan, thousands of worshipers flocked to celebrate the first of the odd-numbered nights of the last ten nights, amidst a spiritual atmosphere. This large turnout came from a desire to seize the benefits of these blessed nights in which one hopes for the Night of Power, which is better than a thousand months, during which Muslims accept to pray, pray, recite the Qur’an, and pray, seeking God’s mercy and seeking forgiveness and freedom from hellfire.

The ranks of the worshipers were led by Dr. Muhammad Al-Duwaini, Undersecretary of Al-Azhar, Dr. Salama Daoud, President of Al-Azhar University, Dr. Muhammad Al-Jundi, Secretary-General of the Islamic Research Academy, Dr. Abbas Shoman, Secretary-General of the Council of Senior Scholars, Sheikh Ayman Abdel-Ghani, Head of the Al-Azhar Institutes Sector, Dr. Shawqi Allam, former Mufti of the Republic, Dr. Abdel Moneim Fouad, General Supervisor of the Scientific Halls of Al-Azhar Mosque, Dr. Muhammad Abdel-Malik, Vice President of Al-Azhar University, along with a group of Al-Azhar scholars. Thousands perform the evening and Tarawih prayers at Al-Azhar Mosque

The student Al-Hassan Hussam led the worshipers in the evening prayer, reciting the narration of Hafs on the authority of Asim from Surat Al-Rum, while the Tarawih prayer was led by Dr. Osama Al-Hadidi, with the narration of Ibn Wardan on the authority of Abu Jaafar Al-Madani from Surat Al-Rum, and with him was the student Sheikh Ahmed Zaki, reciting the narration of Ibn Dhakwan on the authority of Ibn Amer Al-Shami from Surat Al-Rum, and Sheikh Amr Farouk also participated with them, reciting Shu’bah’s narration on the authority of Asim Al-Kufi. From Surat Luqman, in a scene that reflects Al-Azhar’s interest in reviving the Sunnah of frequent Qur’anic recitations and providing young readers with the opportunity to participate in leading the worshipers.

Al-Azhar Mosque continues to perform its scientific and advocacy mission during the holy month through an integrated Ramadan program, which includes holding Tarawih prayers daily with frequent recitations of 20 rak’ahs of ten recitations, in addition to Tahajjud prayer in the last ten nights of eight rak’ahs every night, in addition to organizing 137 scientific lessons and lectures in which a group of senior scholars and professors of Al-Azhar University participate, and holding 130 Qur’anic recitations of five. Recited daily, within the framework of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif’s efforts to spread the sciences of the Holy Qur’an and consolidate the values of faith and correct religious awareness in the souls of Muslims.
