Ceasefire between Washington and Tehran

Winston Peters, New Zealand’s Foreign Minister, said through his account on the “X” platform that these developments represent encouraging news, but there is still significant work to be accomplished in the coming days to ensure a permanent ceasefire.

The New Zealand Foreign Minister expressed his country’s appreciation for the efforts of a number of countries, including bankers, in their efforts to find a solution to the crisis, saying: We are grateful for the efforts of Egypt, Pakistan and Turkey to search for a solution to the crisis.

He added that the current conflict has led to widespread impacts and unrest, not only in the Middle East, but also in other regions of the world, including New Zealand and the Pacific region, pointing to his recent discussions with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio about the repercussions of the situation.

He concluded by emphasizing that New Zealand will continue to support all efforts aimed at achieving a permanent and stable end to the conflict in the coming days and weeks.
