The Directorate of Health Affairs in Cairo Governorate revealed that 32,308 medical interventions were carried out within dental services during the month of February, as part of the efforts of the Ministry of Health and Population to raise the quality of health services and expand their availability to citizens within the health facilities affiliated with the Directorate.

More than 32 thousand medical interventions in dental services last February at Cairo Health

Dr. Tamer Madkour, Head of the Health Affairs Sector in Cairo Governorate, said that the total medical interventions provided by the General Administration of Dentistry during the month of February amounted to 32,308 interventions, under the supervision of Dr. Diaa Mohamed, in an indicator that reflects the amount of effort expended and professional commitment within the units and facilities of the health sector in the governorate.

Madkour explained that the services included providing 5,516 cases of conservative treatment to treat tooth decay in its early stages, with the aim of preserving the structural structure of the teeth and their functional efficiency, in addition to implementing 4,755 cases of root canal treatment using modern therapeutic techniques.

Madkour added that the medical teams also dealt with 1,918 cases of gum disease to support the health of the tissues supporting the teeth, in addition to performing 18,830 cases of regular and surgical extractions for cases that required surgical intervention.

Madkour pointed out that the specialized services included providing orthodontic services to 813 cases to improve occlusion and aesthetic appearance, in addition to implementing 430 cases of fixed and removable prosthetics to restore the efficiency of chewing and speech and achieve functional and aesthetic balance of the mouth and teeth.

In the same context, the head of the sector explained that 9 operations were performed under general anesthesia, including 3 operations for children, in addition to the implementation of 6 dental implant cases using the latest available therapeutic techniques.

The Directorate of Health Affairs in Cairo confirmed that the General Administration of Dentistry was keen, in parallel with providing therapeutic services, to organize a number of educational seminars to raise community awareness of the importance of oral and dental health care, in addition to holding specialized training workshops to develop the skills of medical personnel and enhance their scientific and practical competence.

The Directorate stressed its continued support and development of dental services within its health facilities, in line with the vision of the Egyptian state to build an integrated health system based on quality and efficiency, and that places citizen health as a top priority.
