Diaa El-Sayed, the former Egyptian national team coach, confirmed that the Egyptian national team includes a group of great stars who play an important role in helping technical director Hossam Hassan impose discipline and control within the team, noting that the presence of leadership elements reflects positively on the players’ performance on and off the field.
Diaa Al-Sayed’s statements
Diaa El-Sayed said, in television statements, that Mohamed Salah is constantly keen to meet his teammates and talk to them, taking advantage of the nature of the combined tournaments that enhance rapprochement between players, stressing that both Mahmoud Trezeguet and Mohamed El-Shenawy play the same role inside the locker room.
He added that Mohamed Salah is distinguished by his ability to create a positive atmosphere within the national team’s camp, as he contributes to relieving pressure on the players, which helps them focus and give their best on the field.
Diaa Al-Sayed touched on the file of Imam Ashour, stressing that the decision to change him during the match came in a nervous and hasty manner, and it would have been better to prepare him better before the tournament, by giving him the opportunity to participate in the Arab Cup under the leadership of Helmy Toulan to gain match sensitivity and technical harmony.
He pointed out that the lack of coordination between the technical staff was a major reason for not preparing the player optimally, explaining that Hani Abu Rida should have held a meeting between Hossam Hassan and Helmi Tolan in order to coordinate between the two teams and make the most of the players, stressing that this absence deprived the first team of the services of Imam Ashour, who was technically and mentally ready.
Diaa Al-Sayed explained that Imam Ashour was the best player on the Egyptian national team during the period in which he participated in the match, and he performed at a distinguished level before leaving the field.
Diaa Al-Sayed concluded his statements by emphasizing that some fans’ annoyance with the Egyptian national team’s performance against Zimbabwe was mainly due to wasting easy opportunities, despite the clear superiority and control over the course of the match, stressing that the national team is moving in the right direction and has many positives.
