The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, represented by the Supreme Council of Antiquities, began implementing an integrated project to restore and develop temples Luxor Karnak on the eastern bank, and Hatshepsut and Seti I on the western bank in Luxor Governorate, as the project aims to raise the efficiency of archaeological sites and improve the services provided to visitors.
Expansion and modernization of Luxor and Karnak Temples
The Karnak Temples witnessed the modernization of the control building for the electronic surveillance system, with the preparation of a study for the second phase to cover the walls surrounding the cameras.
In Luxor Temple, the works include expanding the entrance hall from 110 square meters to 250 square meters, and adding six new entry gates to prevent overcrowding.

X-ray screening machines and ticket machines will also be increased, and these works will be carried out between May and August to take advantage of the decline in visitor numbers.
Development of the Temple of Hatshepsut and restoration of Seti I
In the Temple of Hatshepsut, the works include modernizing the visitor center, providing screening devices and sterilization gates, allocating 11 electronic ticket gates, in addition to creating a modern showroom with an interactive screen and developing bazaars and entry paths.
As for the Temple of Seti I, work is focused on removing dirt and soot to reveal the original colors of the inscriptions, making visiting paths from sandstone, and strengthening the weak parts of the walls.
Specific timetable
Mr. Sherif Fathi, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, confirmed that the works are being carried out according to a timetable to ensure their completion before the start of the winter tourist season.
Dr. Hisham Al-Laithi, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities, explained that the specialized restoration teams adopt the latest scientific methods to preserve the archaeological and architectural value of these sites.
