Today, Thursday, the Hadayek El-Qubba Misdemeanor Court witnessed a new development in the appeal session of lawyer Ali Ayoub against his 3-year imprisonment on charges of insulting Dr. Jihan Zaki, Minister of Culture, on the social networking site.

Lawyer Ali Ayoub’s appeal against his 3-year imprisonment was heard

During the session, lawyer Ali Ayoub’s defense submitted an official request for the court’s response, and asked for a deadline to take response measures.

The competent investigation authorities decided to release lawyer Ali Ayoub after he appealed his 3-year imprisonment on charges of insulting the Minister of Culture on the social networking site.

Earlier, the competent court decided to imprison lawyer Ali Ayoub for 3 years with work, a fine of 300,000 pounds, a bail of 20,000 pounds, fifty thousand pounds as temporary civil compensation, and confiscation of the mobile phone, in the case of insulting, slandering, and defaming the Minister of Culture.

The Defense Minister of Culture revealed, during a live broadcast on Cairo 24, the scenes of the trial session of the lawyer accused of insulting the Minister on social media sites, stressing that the defense team demanded the maximum penalty for the accused, in addition to civil compensation amounting to one million pounds.

The Minister of Culture’s defense explained that what the accused did did not harm Dr. Jihan Zaki, Minister of Culture alone, but rather represented an insult to Egyptian women in general, noting that the incident caused psychological and family harm to his client.
