Improving air quality and enhancing the urban appearance
The governor continued the work of supplying and planting trees allocated to the governorate, which amount to 9,460 trees within the plan for the fiscal year 2025/2026, as a new batch with a total of 3,100 trees is currently being supplied, which began today with the supply of 600 trees, provided that the supply of trees will be completed in successive batches.
Engineer Ayman Attia directed the planting of 600 jacaranda trees of the agreed-upon large sizes, distributing them across a number of main axes to achieve a unified aesthetic appearance. 100 trees were allocated to the Mustafa Kamel axis, 100 trees from Bridge 27 to the Qabbari area, and 100 trees in the Mahmoudiyah axis, in addition to 300 trees from the beginning of the Kafouri axis, within the framework of an integrated plan aimed at maximizing the use of the spaces that have been prepared. In advance, which includes 700 tours at the Kafouri axis and 1,100 tours at the desert road entrance.
He pointed out that there was agreement and coordination with the Ministry of Environment on the varieties that were chosen within the visual identity plan for Alexandria Governorate, and they include jacaranda, poinciana, mahogany, and tecoma trees, which contribute to achieving a distinctive and harmonious aesthetic character at the level of main axes and roads, stressing that the initiative represents an important step towards improving the quality of life for citizens and raising the efficiency of the public environment.
He stressed the need to adhere to the specified timetable for supply and planting work, stressing that what is more important than supplying and delivering trees is to monitor and care for them continuously, to ensure their proper growth and achieve the desired environmental sustainability, which contributes to maximizing the return from the initiative and improving the general appearance of the governorate.
This came in the presence of Dr. Alaa Rashed, Agricultural and Environmental Advisor to Alexandria Governorate, Major General Amr Abdel Moneim, Head of the Central Administration for City Beautification, Mr. Ahmed Imam, and Ms. Zainab Al-Sheikh, representatives of the Ministry of Local Development, and Engineer Al-Sayed Mahmoud, representative of the Ministry of Agriculture.
