A US judge on Tuesday suspended President Donald Trump Trump Construction of a $400 million ballroom in the East Wing of the White House is moving forward, Reuters reported.
The agency explained that the decision led to a temporary halt to one of the Republican president’s most prominent efforts to reshape the center of American power.
A US District Court judge in Washington granted a request for a preliminary injunction by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, a nonprofit that filed a lawsuit alleging that Trump exceeded his authority when he demolished the historic East Wing and began construction without approval from Congress.

The judge’s decision keeps the 90,000-square-foot ballroom project on hold while the lawsuit continues.
Trump has long defended the ballroom as a distinctive addition to the White House and a lasting symbol of his presidency.
The U.S. National Heritage Foundation sued Trump and several federal agencies in December, after the administration demolished the East Wing — originally built in 1902 and expanded during Franklin Roosevelt’s presidency — to make way for what Trump vowed would be the best ballroom in the country.
The group claims that neither the president nor the National Park Service, which manages the White House grounds, have the authority to demolish the historic building or erect a major new facility without express approval from Congress.
