Pope Leo, Pope of the Vatican, denounced the conditions of the Palestinians in Gaza, during his Christmas sermon on Thursday, in an unusual direct appeal during what is usually considered a solemn spiritual mass.

The position of the Pope on the Palestinian issue

Pope Leo said, drawing inspiration during his speech from the story of the birth of Jesus Christ and the suffering of humanity: How can we then not think of the tents in Gaza, which were exposed for long weeks to rain, wind, and cold?, according to what was reported by Reuters.

During the Mass attended by thousands in St. Peter’s Basilica, the Pope also expressed his regret for the conditions of displaced people around the world and the devastation caused by the wars ravaging the world.

He has also lamented the conditions of Palestinians in Gaza several times recently, telling reporters last month that the only solution to the decades-long conflict between Israel and the Palestinian people must include the establishment of a Palestinian state.
