US President Donald Trump said that Colombian President Gustavo Petro called him to explain the drug situation and other disputes.
Trump confirmed that he looks forward to meeting the Colombian president soon at the White House.
US President Donald Trump launched a sharp attack on Colombian President Gustavo Petro last Sunday, describing him as a sick man who loves to make cocaine and sell it to the United States, and he will not continue doing so for a long time.
When a journalist asked him whether these statements meant that there might be an operation in Colombia in the future, Trump replied: That sounds good to me.
For his part, Colombian President Gustavo Petro defended his government’s record in combating drug trafficking, following US President Donald Trump’s threat to take military action against his country.
Last Monday, Petro reviewed, in a publication on the X platform, what he considered his administration’s achievements in the field of drug control.
Among these achievements is what he described as the largest cocaine seizure in the history of the world, in addition to regaining control of the El Platido area known as the Wall Street of cocaine, which he said previous governments had allowed to flourish.
Petro added that he is neither an illegitimate president nor a drug dealer, noting that his possessions are limited to the family home, which he still pays for with his salary, and that his bank statements are published, and no one can claim that he spent money that exceeds his income, stressing that he is not motivated by motives of greed.
