In a special evening on the first day of Eid, the artist Bassem Samra was a guest on the “One of the People” program with the journalist Amr El-Laithi on Al-Hayat channel, where he talked about the scenes of his artistic career and his thinking about the future.
Bassem Samra revealed that he is constantly thinking about retiring, stressing that the acting profession is difficult and cruel.
Samra said that he is considering moving away from the field, due to work pressures and the nature of the artistic community, which, as he described, is not devoid of dishonest people.
He added that he deals with others realistically, and wishes everyone well without requiring the existence of friendships with everyone.
He pointed out that there are some people within the community who do not wish him success, and there are situations in which he was exposed to being excluded from artistic works despite prior agreement, due to interference from others, pointing out that he prefers to deal with honest personalities away from hypocrisy.
He pointed out that he hopes to have some rest, travel, and visit new places, stressing that the best time to retire is when the artist is at the peak of his success and giving.
Regarding the evaluation of stardom, Bassem Samra stressed that there is no artist “stronger, more important, or greater,” and the true judgment rests with the audience only, noting that some are trying to stir up controversy through social media to maintain the forefront of the scene.
He also talked about the success of the Magic Eye series, stressing that he expected this success due to the integration of its elements of a distinctive story, strong direction, and respectable production, and the work did not depend on electronic campaigns for promotion, in reference to the spread of the phenomenon of “electronic committees,” which he described as unhealthy and affecting the artistic scene.
