Gold worth about $2,000… A Chinese man finds treasure inside a duck’s stomach

According to the Daily Mail, a person named Liu, from the Longhui District in Hunan Province, China, discovered gold particles inside the stomach of a duck last February, with an estimated value of about 162,000 Indian rupees, or approximately $1,800.

Initial tests showed that the discovered particles were real gold, weighing about 10 grams, and their value was estimated at about 12,000 Chinese yuan.

Liu’s father explained that the ducks were raised in open pastures near a river that was known in the past for gold mining operations, suggesting that the bird swallowed mud containing gold particles while searching for food.

According to media reports, gold cannot be digested or absorbed by the body, so it usually passes through the digestive system without causing harm, but large or impure pieces may sometimes lead to intestinal obstruction in humans or animals.

Liu pointed out that such discoveries are not entirely rare in the region, explaining that some villagers had previously found gold particles inside ducks, but not in the quantities he found.

For its part, local authorities in the Natural Resources Office of Longhui Province stressed the need for the particles to be subjected to specialized examination to definitively confirm their nature, noting that last year villagers were able to find more than 10 grams of gold while washing sand in the nearby river.
