Within the framework of strengthening the role of the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade, tightening control over markets, ensuring the availability of basic commodities at fair prices, and not allowing any monopolistic practices or overpricing, especially during the holy month of Ramadan of 2026, and in order to reduce the economic burdens on citizens and secure their needs for basic commodities, the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade continued to implement intensive and expanded monitoring campaigns at the republic level.
Supply: intensified campaigns on bakeries, markets, and gas stations… and tightening controls to prevent exaggeration in prices.
Dr. Sherif Farouk, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, confirmed that the Ministry’s supervisory agencies, represented by the Central Administration for Control and the Supply Directorates, have implemented nearly 9,000 ration campaigns, in addition to large-scale campaigns targeting various ration activities, including bakeries, markets, commodity outlets, and gas stations, within the framework of an integrated control plan that relies on extensive field deployment and real-time follow-up.
The Minister explained that these efforts resulted in the arrest of about 68,340 various catering violations, which reflects the size of the state’s unprecedented regulatory action to confront any negative practices in the market, and to deal immediately and decisively with violators.

He pointed out that the municipal and tourist bakeries sector witnessed intense monitoring campaigns, which resulted in issuing 42,234 violations to municipal bakeries, which varied between underweight, selling for more than the price, not giving a cash bonus, and poor level of cleanliness, in addition to issuing more than 240 violations to tourist bakeries since the issuance of the ministerial directive to regulate the weights and prices of tourist bread, within the framework of tightening control over the bread system and preventing any exaggeration in prices.
The campaigns also resulted in the seizure of 1,590 checks of subsidized local flour that had been disposed of on the black market, and the monitoring of a number of bakeries that had stopped production, in addition to issuing 30 cases of some bakeries using citizens’ cards in fake disbursement operations, which reflects the full vigilance of the regulatory agencies in confronting all forms of manipulation.
Regarding the outlets for disbursing food supplies, the Minister explained that the campaigns against the food dealers and the “My Association” outlets resulted in the seizure of 3,242 violations, which varied between not giving cash vouchers, collecting food supplies and disposing of them in illegal ways, as one of the merchants was caught in possession of 200 cartons of food oil, with a total of 2,400 packages, in addition to the seizure of 1,241 bottles of food oil. And 2,090 bags of pasta, in addition to issuing records for the disposal of food supplies, which included 1,150 bags of pasta and 1,000 bags of sugar.
20 reports were also issued for selling food supplies at more than the price, with differences ranging between 12 and 53 pounds, in addition to violations of not announcing the prices, which confirms the continued tight control over the support system and ensuring that it reaches those who deserve it.
He added that the monitoring campaigns extended to include the milling sector, where 416 violations were detected, ranging from collecting and disposing of flour in violation, with periodic samples being withdrawn to ensure the quality of production, in addition to intensifying oversight of warehouses, gas stations, and gas filling stations, especially in the wake of decisions to move the prices of petroleum products, which resulted in the seizure of more than 1,100 catering violations, ranging from selling at more than the price and collecting petroleum products for the purpose of trading them on the black market.
In the field of combating commercial fraud, the Minister explained that the campaigns resulted in the arrest of 21,137 violations, including 670 cases of possession of expired goods, 656 cases of selling for more than the price, 10,566 violations of failure to announce prices, 1,368 violations of possession of goods of unknown origin, and 246 violations in the field of commercial fraud and trademarks, in addition to immediately examining all complaints received through electronic platforms and communication applications, and taking action. necessary legal matters without delay.
Dr. Sherif Farouk confirmed that the Ministry is continuing to implement a strict monitoring plan during the coming period, with the expansion of amplified campaigns and effective field presence, stressing not to tolerate any violations that affect the rights of citizens, and to take deterrent and decisive legal measures against violators, ensuring the stability of markets, the availability of goods of appropriate quality, and the consolidation of discipline within the ration system.
