The Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation in the Emirates hosted a delegation from the Young Generation Network affiliated with the Nuclear Institute in the United Kingdom, as part of the first technical visit by the network that focused on the preparedness and response system for nuclear and radiological emergencies in the UAE.

The Director of Emergency Preparedness and Response at the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation in the Emirates, Mohammed Al Marzouqi, said, as reported by the Emirates News Agency, WAM, that communication with the next generation of specialists in the nuclear field is an essential element for exchanging the UAE’s experiences in preparedness for nuclear and radiological emergencies, and ensuring the long-term sustainability of the sector at the national and international levels.

During the visit, the delegation was briefed on the Authority’s role as the independent nuclear regulatory body in the country responsible for protecting the public and the environment.

The program included a presentation of the Authority’s tasks in the areas of preparedness and response to nuclear and radiological emergencies, the national emergency management framework, in addition to the tools, systems and oversight functions that support effective decision-making during emergency situations.

The visit also included a tour of the Authority’s Emergency Operations Center, where participants learned about its capabilities in nuclear assessment, radiation monitoring, and communications management.
