Al-Jarzawi explained, during a telephone conversation with the journalist Muhammad Tariq Adah on the “Match” program on the “Sada Al-Balad” channel, that this emotional state among the fans was clear before the match, especially after the distinguished performance presented by the team in previous matches in the tournament.

Al-Garzawi pointed out that the Egyptian team’s move from the city of Agadir to Tangier had a clear impact on the team’s performance, stressing that Senegal took advantage of the comfort and local stability, as the stands of the match stadium were filled with Senegalese fans who strongly supported their team throughout the match, explaining that this difference contributed to the difficulty of controlling the match for the Egyptian team.

Al-Garzawi revealed that the Egyptian media delegation was harassed by officials of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) after the match, stressing that such practices affected the nature of coverage of the events of the match, but they did not diminish the spirit of journalists in conveying the truth to the fans.

The deputy editor-in-chief of “The Match” stressed that the Egyptian national team is still a complex for many African teams, pointing out that the loss to Senegal does not reduce the technical value of the players and the technical staff, and that there is a necessity to build on what was presented during the next tournament, while continuing to support the players to develop performance and restore the prestige of Egyptian football at the continental level.
