Egypt has followed with great interest the ongoing developments on the Yemeni scene, expressing its appreciation for the efforts made to work to reduce the escalation and prevent the current situation from worsening, in a way that reflects positively on the security and stability of the region.
Egypt affirmed its firm position in support of legitimacy in the Republic of Yemen, and its full concern for the unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Yemen, and stresses the necessity of preserving the national state institutions and preserving the capabilities of the brotherly Yemeni people, in order to pave the way for the restoration of stability in Yemen and the entire region and guarantee freedom of navigation in the Red Sea.
In this context, Egypt affirmed the regional efforts made to support the paths of calm and de-escalation in a way that contributes to preserving the unity and territorial integrity of Yemen, and progressing towards a comprehensive settlement that achieves the aspirations of the Yemeni people for security, stability, development and prosperity.
Reducing escalation and achieving security and stability in Yemen
On the other hand, a telephone call took place between the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Badr Abdel-Ati, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Yemen, Dr. Shiaa Al-Zindani, where the two ministers discussed the current situation in Yemen and the efforts led by the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates in order to reduce the escalation and achieve security and stability in brotherly Yemen, in a way that reflects on the security and stability of the region. Minister Abdel-Ati renewed Egypt’s welcome of the agreement related to the exchange of prisoners and detainees in Yemen as a step that supports the ongoing efforts to create a favorable climate for resuming the path.
