Major General Mohamed Alwan, Governor of Assiut, held an expanded meeting at the governorate’s general office, to follow up on the assignments issued regarding the completion of projects for the first phase of the presidential initiative “A Decent Life,” and to review the developments in implementation rates in a number of vital sectors, within the framework of the political leadership’s directives to quickly complete the work and enter the service projects to meet the needs of citizens in the targeted villages.
The meeting witnessed the presence of Adly Abu Aqeel, Secretary General of the Governorate, Khaled Abdel Raouf, Assistant Secretary General, Major General Magdy Mahmoud, Head of the Upper Egypt Sector at Dar Al Handasa (the consulting office supervising project follow-up), and Suzanne Mohamed Rady, Coordinator of the National Project for the Development of the Egyptian Rural Area, along with representatives of the consulting office, heads of centers, directors of service directorates, and officials of the implementing companies.
The governor began the meeting by emphasizing that the current stage is the project completion stage, noting that some projects have exceeded advanced implementation rates and require accelerating receipt and operation procedures, while other projects require urgent intervention to remove any obstacles hindering their progress. He directed that weekly meetings be held to review the executive position in detail and develop specific practical solutions with a clear timetable.
The meeting dealt with a detailed presentation of the actual completion rates compared to the time plan, with an analysis of the reasons for the differences, if any, whether related to the supply of missions, the coordination of facilities, or the initial delivery procedures. The governor stressed the necessity of working according to an integrated plan that prevents the repetition of observations and ensures the readiness of projects for immediate operation without the need for subsequent complementary work.
The governor pointed out that the first phase of the initiative in the governorate represents a comprehensive development shift, whether in infrastructure or basic services, stressing that the governorate is following up on a daily basis with the central authorities to ensure that any challenges that may arise are overcome, and that the pace of achievement is accelerated in keeping with the volume of investments directed to the countryside.
The Governor of Assiut concluded the meeting by emphasizing that “A Decent Life” is not just a development project, but rather a commitment to the ordinary citizen, requiring the highest levels of seriousness and discipline, stressing that the next stage will witness an unprecedented intensification in implementation rates, so that the people of the targeted villages feel the fruits of what is being accomplished on the ground.
It is worth noting that the first phase of the presidential initiative in the governorate aims to implement 2,716 service and development projects at a cost of approximately 80 billion pounds, within 7 centers that include 149 villages and 615 villages and estates, in sectors that directly affect the daily lives of citizens, which contributes to creating a qualitative shift in the level of services, improving the quality of life, and enhancing sustainable development paths in rural areas.
