The head of the South Korean presidential office, Kang Hon-shik, announced today, Friday, that his country will receive more than 6 million barrels of crude oil from the United Arab Emirates, according to what Reuters reported.
The UAE supports South Korea with 6 million barrels of oil
Kang explained during a press conference that South Korea will receive 4 million barrels by sending two oil tankers to an Emirati port that does not require passage through the Strait of Hormuz, with the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, ADNOC, loading the two tankers with crude oil.
He added that his country also obtained assurances from the UAE that it could provide it with an additional two million barrels of crude oil reserves stored inside South Korea, should the need arise.
He stressed that South Korea is also working to enhance its ability to secure oil supplies through the use of alternative ports and routes.
In a related context, six companies affiliated with ADNOC announced last Wednesday that their operations would continue normally, confirming that their business or financial resources were not affected by the current developments in the region.
The companies ADNOC Gas, ADNOC Drilling, ADNOC Distribution, ADNOC Logistics and Services, Borouge and Vertiglobe stated in separate disclosures to the Abu Dhabi Securities Market that they are closely following developments in the situation in the Emirates and the Gulf region, and coordinating with the relevant authorities in the country.
