Data from the Danish Statistics Office showed that the consumer price inflation rate recorded its lowest level in nearly two years last January, largely due to lower housing and service costs.

Low electricity costs

The consumer price index rose by 0.8% on an annual basis last January compared to about 1.9% last December, and housing and service prices fell by 1.3% in light of the decrease in electricity costs, and transportation costs fell by 0.2%, according to the German news agency DPA.

On the other hand, the inflation rate for food and non-alcoholic beverages rose from 3.6% to 3.8%. Consumer prices fell on a monthly basis by 0.6% last January, after falling by 0.4% in December 2025.
