Cairo University has confirmed that its approach to establishing the principles of justice and equal opportunities among all students is a well-established policy that the university follows through the various stages, and it will continue to adhere to it in the future, ensuring the achievement of discipline and equal opportunities within the educational process.
Cairo University denies forcing Christian students to attend or take exams during the holidays
The university explained in a statement that this trend was recently evident in the decisions of the University Council issued on March 25, which stressed adherence to these principles, principles and controls regulating work within colleges, in a way that enhances the quality of the educational process and achieves justice among students.
Cairo University denied what was circulated about forcing Christian students to attend lectures or take exams during religious holidays.
The university confirmed that colleges are committed not to hold any exams during holidays that do not coincide with official holidays, and that student absences are removed during these periods, ensuring that no student is harmed.
In this context, the Faculty of Economics and Political Science at Cairo University announced its full respect for the holidays of the Christian brothers, in compliance with the established directives of the University Council in this regard.
The Faculty of Economics and Political Science at Cairo University clarifies its position on study dates during the holidays
The college explained in a statement that the University Council had stressed, during its session held on January 25, 2026, the necessity of not holding exams during holiday periods, which is what the college has already committed to, as it was decided not to hold exams or record attendance and absence on Sunday, April 5, coinciding with Palm Sunday.
Regarding the announcement regarding the continuation of lectures on Sunday, April 12, 2026, the college confirmed that this decision does not include Christian students, but rather came only due to the short duration of the second semester and the large number of vacations and interruptions during it.
Earlier, Dr. Mamdouh Ismail, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Political Science at Cairo University, confirmed that the college takes into account the Christian brothers during their holidays, stressing that the email spread and published on Facebook is not directed to the Christian brothers in the college, but since this day is not an official holiday, the rest of the students were notified to attend.
The dean of the college continued in special statements to Cairo 24: But the Christian brothers are allowed not to attend, and no email was sent to them to attend the college, noting that last Sunday was a Sunday of mourning and the college decided to cancel this day’s exams due to the Christian brothers not attending, and also next Sunday there are no exams in the college out of consideration for the Christian brothers.
