The Cairo Film Festival announced the details of its new session, which will be held next year under the chairmanship of artist Hussein Fahmy.

The Cairo Film Festival statement came as follows: The Cairo International Film Festival, headed by the artist Hussein Fahmy, is pleased to announce the date of its 47th session, which will be held from November 11 to 20, 2026. The festival’s president, the artist Hussein Fahmy, extends his thanks to the Ministry of Culture, led by Minister Dr. Ahmed Fouad Hanno, and all sponsors, strategic partners and filmmakers for their support and trust in the festival. We look forward to a new cinematic experience that we will create together in November. 2026.
Earlier, the Cairo International Film Festival announced at the closing ceremony of its 46th session the full list of awards, which included multiple competitions during which the jury presented choices that reflect the strength of the competition and the diversity of the participating works this year.
In the International Critics Week Competition, the film “Habibi Hussein” by director Alex Bakri won the Shadi Abdel Salam Award for Best Film, which is the competition’s grand prize.
In My Parents House, directed by Tim Elrich, also won the Fathi Farag Award – Special Jury Prize.
While the film “The Botanist” by director Jing Yi received a special mention from the committee.
The judging panel was composed of Salma Abu Deif, Elie Dagher, and Claire Gadea.
