The incident occurred when the security services of the Alexandria Security Directorate received a notification from the warden of the Raml Awal Police Station, stating that a report had been received about a fire breaking out inside a residential apartment on Market Street in front of Al-Dhahriya School within the department’s district.
Immediately, the security services, accompanied by two ambulances and two security vehicles, moved to the site of the report, imposed a security cordon around the place to prevent the flames from spreading to neighboring places, and took the necessary legal measures.
The initial inspection revealed that the fire broke out in an apartment on the second floor within a 6-storey property, with each floor containing 4 apartments.
The inspection indicated that the fire broke out inside a bedroom and a balcony due to an electrical short circuit in a computer inside the room, causing its contents to be completely charred.
Civil Protection was able to control the fire, and cooling work was being carried out to prevent the fire from igniting again. A report on the incident was filed at the Raml Awal Police Department, and the investigating authorities were notified to begin their investigations into the incident.
