The Round 13 film will be screened at the European Film Market (EFM) on February 16 at 11 a.m., while GAWL is responsible for distributing the film outside the Arab world.

Round 13 opened its international screenings at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival, before it was shown in Arabic for the first time at the Cairo International Film Festival, where its heroine Afaf Ben Mahmoud was crowned with the Best Acting Performance Award in the Arab Cinema Horizons Competition. The film also won the Best Film Award from the Fajr International Film Festival in Iran.

“Round 13” belongs to the poignant human drama, and deals with the idea of accepting what seems impossible, and tells the story of Kamal, the former African boxing champion, who gave up his sporting glories for the sake of his family and a simple life, before his life was turned upside down after his young son, Sabri, became infected with a serious, life-threatening illness.
In the face of illness, Samia clings to hope, no matter how weak it is, while Kamal drowns in anger and a feeling of helplessness. As for the child, Sabri, with maturity beyond his years, faces his fate with exceptional courage, becoming a source of strength for his parents. Between love, fear, and despair, Kamal is pushed to the brink of collapse, as his decisions lead him to irreversible consequences, while the family fights its final battle against fate, on a painful journey searching for salvation and meaning.
The film offers a sensitive treatment of the struggle between strength and fragility within the human spirit, and poses existential questions about fatherhood, loss, and resilience in the face of tragedy.
