The young actress, Maryam El Gendy, succeeded in attracting attention during her participation in the series “Hea Kimya” starring Mustafa Gharib and Diab, which was shown during the Ramadan 2026 drama season, where she received wide praise for her performance, especially in her portrayal of the character Kawthar, which sparked great interaction among the audience.
In a media appearance on the program “Happening in Egypt” with journalist Sherif Amer on MBC Egypt, Maryam spoke frankly about the scenes of her preparation for the character, confirming that she was feeling great anxiety before the job offer.
Maryam Al-Jundi explained that what concerned her most was the nature of Kawthar’s character, which she described as different from the rest of the characters within the events, saying that she was afraid that the audience would not accept her, especially since the character carries a character that may seem heavy compared to the rest of the heroes of the work.

Maryam Al-Jundi added that she preferred to rely on her inner feeling in presenting the role, without resorting to many external opinions, noting that she did not discuss the details of the character even with her brother, director Ahmed Al-Jundi, despite his closeness to her and his experience.
She confirmed that the support of director Islam Khairy played a major role in reassuring her, as he gave her complete confidence, and he dealt with her in the same manner as she had expected, which helped her present the character in a more comfortable and honest way.
Maryam Al-Jundi concluded her speech by expressing her happiness with the reactions she received after showing the series, stressing that Kawthar’s success exceeded her expectations, and that the experience constituted an important milestone in her artistic career, especially since it broke her barrier of fear and prompted her to present bolder and different roles in the future.
