Dr. Manal Awad, Minister of Local Development and Acting Minister of Environment, held a meeting with Engineer Hatem Nabil, Head of the Central Agency for Organization and Administration, at the Ministry’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital, to discuss ways of cooperation in modernizing and developing the organizational structures of the local administration.

The meeting discussed joint cooperation to modernize the organizational structures of the General Office of the Ministry of Local Development, and the offices of all governorates, centers, cities and neighborhoods, in addition to creating an organizational structure for local rural units for the first time, in a step aimed at enhancing the efficiency of the local work system.

Dr. Manal Awad stressed the Ministry’s keenness on continuous coordination with the Central Organization for Organization and Administration, in implementation of the presidential directives aimed at developing institutional capabilities, building competencies, clarifying roles and integrating competencies, which is reflected in improving the level of services provided to citizens in the governorates.

The Minister referred to the agreement to adopt the organizational structure of the rural local unit, in a way that contributes to preserving the gains of the presidential initiative “A Decent Life,” stressing that the Ministry will provide the necessary technical support to the governorates according to scientific and applied foundations, taking into account the highest quality standards.

For his part, Engineer Hatem Nabil stressed the commitment of the Central Agency for Organization and Administration to provide all aspects of support to the Ministry of Local Development and Governorates, and to make optimal use of administrative cadres and employ them in a manner consistent with local work requirements, and in line with the laws and approved job description cards.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the two sides agreed to continue coordination to finalize proposals for administrative and functional structures in the offices of governorates, centers, cities, and neighborhoods, with a meeting being held during this month to review proposals for organizational structures for the General Office of the Ministry of Environment and the two agencies for environmental affairs and waste, and to follow up on the latest developments in this file.
