Through the Galaxy S26 Ultra, Samsung is working to add a smart privacy screen that prevents intruders from seeing the displayed content from side angles, while it remains directly clear to the user, according to a report published by the phonearena website.
Privacy protection
The new feature aims to protect messages, photos and banking applications in public places such as airplanes and cafes, relying on a combination of advanced display technologies and artificial intelligence.
Apple is monitoring and planning for adoption
According to research company Omdia, Apple is closely following these developments, and may first adopt the technology in MacBook devices by 2029, before later moving to iPhones. This step reflects the company’s awareness of the importance of privacy, although it is usually late in adopting some innovations introduced by competitors.
If the screen proves effective without affecting brightness or color quality, it could become the most distinctive feature of the Galaxy S26 Ultra, and perhaps inspire the design of smartphone displays in the coming years.
