Der Spiegel magazine, citing its sources, reported that a Bundeswehr military base at the Azraq multinational air base in Jordan was attacked by Iranian ballistic missiles.
The Iranian-Israeli war
In a report issued on March 1, the magazine quoted its sources as saying that Iran, in response to the American and Israeli strikes, launched attacks on military facilities in Iraq and Jordan that included members of the Bundeswehr.
The report indicated that the German section of a Jordanian air base housing the US Air Force was also attacked, adding that the strike hit a building housing German soldiers. No soldiers were harmed, as they were all in shelters at the time of the attack.
On February 28, the United States and Israel launched strikes on targets in Iran, including Tehran, resulting in damage and casualties among civilians.
Iran responded with strikes on Israeli territory and US military installations in the Middle East.
The United States and Israel initially stated that their preemptive attack was necessary to confront threats from Iran’s nuclear program, but later made clear that they were seeking a change of power in Iran.
Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was assassinated on the first day of the military operation, and the Islamic Republic declared forty days of mourning.
Russian President Vladimir Putin described the assassination of Khamenei as a cynical violation of international law, and the Russian Foreign Ministry condemned the US-Israeli operation and called for an immediate de-escalation and cessation of hostilities.
