The Ministry of Health and Population announced an important health warning to citizens during Eid al-Fitr, prohibiting some groups from eating salted fish such as fesikh and herring, due to the potential health risks.
The Ministry explained that the prohibited categories include:
- People with chronic diseases, such as heart, liver and kidney diseases.
- Older adults, due to their increased sensitivity to the risks of food poisoning.
- Pregnant women, to avoid any complications that may affect their health and the health of the fetus.
The Ministry stressed that these groups’ adherence to nutritional guidelines reduces the risk of food poisoning and maintains their safety during celebrations.

The Ministry of Health also stressed the need for all citizens to adhere to preventive measures when eating any salted foods, and warned against buying fesikh and herring from unreliable sources.
Earlier, the Ministry of Health and Population announced the details of the comprehensive operational plan for the mobile medical teams affiliated with the Central Administration for Public Health Initiatives, which will work over five consecutive days from Thursday, March 19 to Monday, March 23, to reach citizens in the places of their popular gatherings in the various governorates of the Republic.
The Ministry explained that the medical teams will be deployed in mosques, sports clubs, public squares, parks and popular squares in the governorates of Cairo, Giza, Qena, Fayoum, Matrouh, Ismailia, Minya, North Sinai, Qalyubia, Sohag, New Valley, Gharbia, Menoufia, Aswan, Port Said, Sharqia, Kafr El-Sheikh, Assiut, Damietta, Beheira, Red Sea, Beni Suef, Luxor and Alexandria, to facilitate citizens’ access to early detection and preventive care services in all areas. Easy and convenient without the need to visit health facilities.
