Arrest of traders of smuggled cigarettes of unknown origin in Matrouh
Information and investigations by the criminal investigation agencies at the Matrouh Security Directorate confirmed that (3 people, “one of whom has criminal information” – residing within the “Matrouh and Beheira” governorates) traded in smuggled cigarettes of unknown origin.
Following the codification of the procedures in coordination with the Public Security Sector, the necessary ambushes were prepared and they were able to be arrested when they were present in the El Alamein Police Department and in possession of (22.5 thousand packs of “smuggled and unknown source” cigarettes). When they were confronted, they confessed to having committed the incident as referred to, and legal measures were taken.
This comes as a continuation of the efforts of the Ministry of Interior agencies to protect the consumer public and tighten control over the markets.
