Dr. Amal Imam, Executive Director of Al Hilal, confirmed Egyptian redThe association continues its humanitarian role in supporting the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, by launching a new phase of the “Zad al-Izza from Egypt to Gaza” campaign, coinciding with the start of the second phase of the ceasefire inside the Strip.

117 aid convoys have been sent to the Gaza Strip since July

Imam explained, during television statements, that the Zad al-Izza campaign was launched on July 27, 2023, during which 117 aid convoys have been sent so far, in response to the increasing humanitarian needs inside Gaza, pointing out that the Egyptian Red Crescent is the national humanitarian front for implementing humanitarian agreements and truces and bringing aid into the Strip.

She pointed out that the new phase of the campaign witnesses the introduction of new types of aid in addition to food, relief and medical aid and winter supplies, most notably the “Dignity Shelter” project, which focuses on providing prefabricated housing units (caravans) that provide safer and more dignified housing for affected Palestinian families, especially in light of the harsh climate conditions.

The Executive Director of the Egyptian Red Crescent revealed that the Society has brought more than 800,000 tons of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip so far, ranging from tents, blankets, winter clothes, and basic foodstuffs, in addition to medical shipments, noting that nearly 200,000 tents and 1,160 portable bathrooms have been brought in during the last period.

She stressed that the Egyptian Red Crescent continues to coordinate with the local and international community to provide more support, especially with regard to expanding the scope of the “Dignity Shelter” project, which contributes to improving the living conditions of the displaced and gives them a greater degree of safety and human dignity inside the Gaza Strip.
