Lenovo has officially announced the scheduled launch date of its new gaming tablet. This announcement comes after the company reviewed the Legion Tab Gen 5 device during the World Phone Show activities in Barcelona this week, where it shared the full specifications of the device, but declined at the time to specify an exact date for the launch. The new device features an 8.8-inch screen and runs on the latest leading processor from Qualcomm, making its way first to the Chinese market under the name Legion Y700 Gen 5 before being launched globally.
The company explained that the version of this tablet intended for the Chinese market will be available very soon. The Legion Y700 Gen 5 is scheduled to be officially launched on March 18 at exactly seven in the evening local time. This timing means that Lenovo’s new gaming tablet will be launched simultaneously with the launch of the next batch of its lightweight multimedia tablets, so the company will launch a full range of devices at the same time.
This compact tablet will be one of the first devices to rely on the powerful Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor from Qualcomm. This leading processor is already available in a number of distinguished smartphones in the market currently, such as the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, the OnePlus 15 phone, and the Red Magic 11 Pro phone, ensuring exceptional performance and a smooth, stutter-free gaming experience for electronic gaming enthusiasts who are looking for the utmost levels of power.
To meet the demands of heavy gaming, the company combined this processor with a huge 9000 mAh battery to ensure long periods of uninterrupted gaming. In addition, the device features a screen that supports a high refresh rate of 165 Hz to provide very smooth movement with a random capacity of up to 16 GB of the advanced LPDDR5T type, so this technical combination represents a real advancement in the world of compact tablets.
Regarding global availability, Lenovo excited its fans with new information about the date of launching the global version of the device. The company confirmed that the global version, called Legion Tab Gen 5, will be launched next month in multiple markets including Africa, Europe, and the Middle East region. This step confirms the company’s commitment to providing its latest technologies to all users around the world and expanding the scope of its competition in the portable gaming devices market.
