
Reviewed by Dr Mustafa MadboulyThe Prime Minister announced the executive position of the projects of the New Egyptian Rural Development Company, during his meeting today with Major General Engineer Amr Abdel Wahab, Chairman of the Company’s Board of Directors, where developments in the projects being implemented in various regions and the company’s plans to support agricultural expansion and achieve sustainable development were discussed.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Prime Minister stressed that the New Egyptian Rural Development Company is one of the basic pillars in implementing the state’s vision for horizontal expansion in agriculture and land reclamation, which contributes to enhancing food security, providing new job opportunities, and establishing productive urban communities in the targeted areas.
For his part, Major General Engineer Amr Abdel Wahab gave a detailed presentation on the executive position of the company’s lands in the areas of Al-Ghorra, East Siwa, West West Minya, West Minya Extension, Al-Tur, Old and New Farafra, South Savola, Toshka surface and subterranean land, West Manfalut, Al-Qusiya, and Darb Al-Bahnasawy, explaining that the total of lands offered and dealt with, whose in-kind share corresponded to more than one and a half million acres. While the targeted area for cultivation ranges between 700 and 900 thousand acres.
The meeting discussed the position of infrastructure work, especially with regard to networks and the provision of electrical supply to the company’s sites across the country, where the Chairman of the Company’s Board of Directors confirmed the existence of an integrated plan to ensure the sustainability of energy supply to the agricultural and industrial projects associated with it during the coming periods.
Abdel-Wahab indicated that the company has completed the procedures required to start marketing the industrial zones in their various scopes, allowing the establishment of manufacturing and service activities that support the new agricultural communities. He pointed out that 140 field agricultural extension seminars were organized during the past year, from which about 1,500 beneficiaries and farmers benefited.
He added that the company has succeeded in renewing the standard specifications certificates for quality management systems, including ISO 9001, 27001, 10002, 37001, and 22000. New sales outlets have also been opened in the areas of Al-Tur, Farafra, the extension of West Minya, Al-Mughra, West of West Minya, and Greater Cairo. With the aim of providing goods at reasonable prices to citizens and beneficiaries.
The company’s president revealed the launch of the “Your Farm in Egypt” initiative in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptian Affairs Abroad, where applications from more than 170 Egyptian citizens abroad were accepted, with a total area of 7,600 acres, as part of encouraging Egyptians abroad to invest in the agricultural sector.
Regarding the services provided to beneficiaries, he explained that about 3,200 farmer cards were issued by the end of last year, and about 2,500 beneficiaries benefited from the services of issuing cards and obtaining subsidized fertilizers, in addition to operating all food product sales outlets within the company’s regions.
The meeting also reviewed the company’s efforts in the field of financing, as loans were provided to 510 beneficiaries during the past year, in addition to the completion of the construction and delivery of the “New Egyptian Countryside” school for basic education in the West Minya and Maghra regions, and the delivery of family medicine units in the service areas along West Minya, Maghra and West West Minya, in a way that enhances the quality of life in the new communities.
The Prime Minister concluded the meeting by emphasizing the importance of continuing to accelerate the pace of project implementation and maximizing the use of available assets, in a way that supports the state’s plans for integrated agricultural development.
