Music service Spotify is preparing to launch new controls that will allow users to pause video content entirely within the app. The feature is scheduled to begin rolling out globally later this month, and will be available to all accounts, including free accounts.
Users can access the new options through Settings, then the Content and Display section, where there is the ability to disable Canvas animations, in addition to video clips associated with music or podcasts.

After choosing your preferred setting, it is automatically applied across all devices, whether phone, computer, web or TV.
However, video ads will still appear to users on the free plan, along with some Canvas-like visual elements within audio ads.
Spotify explains that the goal of this step is to give users more control, especially with some preferring a listening experience without video elements.
