Since OpenAI acquired the design company founded by former Apple designer Jony Ive, speculation has escalated about the type of device that will emerge from this collaboration, especially since it will represent the company’s first actual entry into the world of hardware.

Initially, leaks indicated the development of a smart pen powered by artificial intelligence, then talk turned to smart earphones.

However, recent reports revealed that the company is working on three different devices, including a wearable device that resembles a pin, smart glasses, in addition to a smart speaker that may be the first product to see the light.

According to sources, a team of more than 200 people is working on these projects. It is said that the smart speaker will be priced between $200 and $300, and will be equipped with a built-in camera. More controversially, the device may not rely on a traditional wake-up call, but rather will be constantly listening to understand the context surrounding it, which raises questions about privacy.

The information also indicates the possibility of integrating an authentication mechanism similar to Face ID technology, and perhaps supporting purchases through user recognition.

As for the launch, the headset is not expected to be released in the market during the year 2026, as the company is targeting a date closer to 2027. The smart glasses will follow in 2028, while the launch date of the pin device is still not specified yet.
