There has been a state of calm recently around the successors of the Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25 Plus, and Galaxy S25 Ultra, and it seems that the reason is due to the possibility that the launch of Samsung’s flagship phones next year will be significantly delayed.
The latest forecasts point to a reveal in February, followed by a launch in March 2026, a little more than two months later. However, the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s improvements may seem limited compared to the big leaps that Xiaomi made with the Xiaomi 17 Ultra.
The 3x zoom camera carries the only new sensor in the lineup, which may disappoint some, according to Ice Universe’s repeated statements over the past months.
However, the Galaxy S26 Ultra could bring impactful improvements to the photography experience, as recent posts on Weibo demonstrate.
According to previous leaks, the brighter lenses in the upcoming phone will have an advanced coating layer that reduces visual defects such as light reflection, an approach that is close to the methods of Vivo and Sony, which adopt Zeiss T* coating technology for the same purpose.
On the other hand, Samsung may reformulate its imaging algorithms to address issues such as skin tones appearing too yellow in photos. Despite these modifications, expectations still indicate that Samsung may offer one of the weakest cameras on leading phones in 2026, a year that is expected to witness fierce competition in the luxury phone category.
